Impossible

Vikram is standing at bus-stop and waiting for his company bus. He is working as a software engineer. A routine job doing by the majority of the young engineering graduates at present.
The bus supposed to come 15 mins back, but not yet come. He is really frustrated about the late.
His office is located 20Km away from his home. It would take nearly 60 mins for him to drive to office on his vehicle, which means totally he has to spend 120 min on road to travel to and from the office. He felt it is stress-full driving on these busy roads to office on his own vehicle, so he preferred the company vehicle. Fortunately company provides transportation to all major areas in the city.
Major IT companies constructed their office buildings in outskirt of the city, because they can get land with cheap price. But that result all the employees have to travel long distances every day. Few who are tired of traveling, rent out their own homes and took the house near to office. These companies should consider constructing employee colonies near to office as like government companies. Initially that may be burden to company but eventually that would increase the employee’s productivity and hence profit of the company.
A bus horn while going on the road made him to come out of his thoughts. And looked at his wrist watch and scolding the bus driver for not coming on time.
Then he observed a person, probably around 20 years old, standing opposite of the road and staring at him. He looks awkward, wearing dirty clothes, and looks like he hasn’t taken the bath for several days. His hair also not combed properly, it looks like a bird nest. He first ignored him, but that person is constantly staring at him.
Vikram called the bus driver to check when he will come, but driver didn’t lift the call. He got irritated and he wants to show his frustration on someone, so he went to the person who is gaping at him on the opposite road, started yelling on him in local language.
“Who are you man? Why are looking at me like that?”
“…..”, he didn’t speak anything.
“Hey… are you deaf? I’m asking you. You stupid fellow, answer me”, Vikram blood pressure is increasing as he is not responding at all.
After few minutes, that guy opened his mouth… and asked him. The whole conversation is happening in local language.
“I’m seeing you from past several days. You are going daily by dressing up well. So I’m thinking what I should do to dress up like you”
“What? You know what I’m doing? I’m a software engineer. Do you know what the meaning of Software engineer is? You can’t dress up like me. Look at you and your get up. You look like a beggar, so you never ever can wear a dress like me”
“Oh…so software engineer can wear a dress like you. Alright thanks”
He turned back to go away.
Vikram is shouting at him, “Hey beggar, take this money. Don’t ever dream to become a software engineer, because that is impossible to you. People like you, who are no use to the society, should get hanged on road”, he threw few currency notes on road towards him.
That person walked away silently.
His name is Chinni, that’s what his mother used to call him when he was a small kid. His both parents died. His grandmother is taking care of him. He left his studies when he was studying 5th standard. Since then he is just passing time roaming streets without doing any work.
There are few incidents which will turn once life. Until that moment everything goes normal and seems normal. But once that turn happened, life will change totally. Now that moment came to Chinni’s life.
He went to home. He didn’t sleep well that night. A small desire of him that is “Wants to wear neat cloths” is changing his life. He is remembering the words “Don’t ever dream to become a software engineer, it is impossible to you. You should be hanged on road”.
His eyes turned red because of anger and distress that he is not able to do anything. He clenched his hand, and decided whatever it takes; he wants to become a software engineer, that’s it.
But, how that is possible? He needs a guide, a master to show the correct path. He didn’t remember anyone who can help him for some time, and then suddenly he remembered his English teacher, whom he knows since his childhood.
Next day morning he went to English teacher home and knocked the door.
His master opened the door, and surprised to see Chinni at that time.
He asked, “What Chinni? You want some money or what?”
“Master, I want to become a software engineer”, he asked as if that is as easy of passing 5th grade.
Master didn’t understand what he said, “What? You want to do some work?”
“Not any work master. I want software engineer job. You need to guide me to get it”, he asked innocently. But his voice is deterministic.
Master started laughing.
“Ha ha ha … are you nuts? You know what is software engineer means, how difficult to get that job? You know my son right. He is a graduate, trying from past 6 months to get that job in Bangalore. But not yet succeeded. It is that difficult. A person like you, who left studies at 5th grade, never becomes a software engineer”.
Chinni face became pale. He didn’t expect discouragement for him.
“Why people discourage others. If not encourage at least, stop discouraging. Try to give constructional suggestions which helps people to reach the goal. There is nothing impossible in this world. Human beings would have not achieved this much if they thought “This is impossible to do it”, Many thoughts are circulating in Chinni’s mind.
“No sir, I know that is difficult, but not impossible. Please just guide me what I have to do. I’m requesting you, please help me”.
Master got irritated; he tried to convince him again.
“See Chinni, there is nothing wrong in dreaming few things. But in practical those never become reality. If I want to become a chief minister, you tell me, is that possible? So anyway it is good that you decided to do some work. I can put you in some shops. Is that OK?”
Chinni not at all convinced.
“No way sir, there is no change in my decision”.
Master looked at him for some time, he appeared different today. He is not that Chinni whom he knows before.
Master is well experienced; he knows this kind of things will not last longer. Initially that desire will be at peak stage like a New Year resolution, but when days are passing the altitude of that desire will go down, and finally one fine day, it just disappears. So he decided to wait until Chinni calms down.
“Ok, Chinni. I’m busy this week. You come next week, we can think about it”, He knows that, Chinni will realize how difficult to get a software job during this week, and he kills that idea.
Chinni nodded and left that place. Master didn’t know the desire that started in Chinni’s mind will not go so easily.
